Seasonal Changes

As spring finally settles in heating up the longer days and nights of the new season a sigh of relief escapes. The snow and cold of this incredible winter are behind us.

To keep your body and mind balanced, calm and healthy now is the time to expand and heat up your yoga practice.

We have added several Hot Flow classes and an outdoor yoga class. Experience the nurturing warmth as the heat surrounds and soothes the body and mind increasing flexibility and the detoxification process. In addition hot yoga classes have been shown to increase stamina and cardiovascular health at a faster rate. However, there are some precautions and contraindications to be aware of.

Dehydration can occur when the body loses more water than it takes in. It is important to stay hydrated before, during and after your practice. It is advised to drink at least 16 oz of water 2 hours before exercise, consuming a full bottle of water in class and after class a full 16 oz again.

In order for the body to cool itself evaporation of the sweat is essential. As the core works to cool itself sweat is secreted through the pores, but this in itself is not enough to cool the body. The sweat must evaporate from the skin. Wiping the skin with a towel doesn’t allow the sweat to evaporate. So even though towels are provided it is better to only use the towel on the mat and if absolutely necessary the palms of the hands and soles of the feet to prevent slipping.

If you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, chronic respiratory or heart conditions or are pregnant please consult and follow the advise of your health care provider.

Check out the new schedule and try one of these classes.

I have heard so many wonderful comments from our devoted Yogis and I would love to share these comments with prospective students. So drop me an email (click the link to the right for comments) and I will post these comments to the website, newsletter and other promotional materials. I want to hear what all of you have to say. So if you haven’t expressed your thoughts now is the chance. What do you have to say about the studio, teachers, classes, etc? Click the link to the right for comments and tell me what you think. As I stated above I will be posting these to the website, newsletter and other promotional items for the studio so list your name at the end of the comment as you want it to appear (ie. Cindy L or CL).

Thanks to all of you for continued support and help in making our studio flourish.
